Sneak Peeks: Part 1

Team Dollface has been very busy since late February working with top photographers, fantastic models, & our upcoming makeup line "Jules".  We completed 10 full photo shoots and are now in the long process of sorting over 12,000 images with more on the way!  We'll be showcasing each shoot on our fab new website that is coming soon.  In the meantime, I wanted to give you guys a little taste of what we're working on. Thank you for your patience while we are under construction.  We are very excited to finally get the new site completed.

Below are a few sneaks of my work from a few of the shoots.  I'll do a follow up blog with more models and photographers!  Our very talented artist, Jordan, was along side me creating her own amazing looks.  You can see some of the magic she created here: Jordan's Gallery.  Jordan is also now available for 2012 bookings and weddings!

The photos below can be found on our Facebook fan page (please Like!) and on our Pinterest board, please follow &

Enjoy! Love, Jules

Being Dollface: 1st Team Photo Shoot

This post comes a day late after needing a day of rest!  Why, did I need to take a random Wednesday off?  On Tuesday, I met with beautiful models, new Dollface artists, & a phenomenal photographer named Kelli Boyd, at our makeup studio inside of the incredible production studio called Meddin.  We brought all the makeup we own, tons of hats & accessories from the amazing Parker Beck, and we started to unleash creative magic!  Why did we do this?  Well, a few important reasons.  I've been itching for creative freedom for months now.  I wanted to play & get to do makeup that made no sense and applied with no real plan in mind.  I have come to find out that I work really well when I just go with the flow and let the model's face guide me. I was happily exhausted after the shoot!  Here is a sneek peek of a look I did during this shoot.  Thank you, Kelli for capturing her beauty so well!  I can't wait to share all the looks we created together!

My favorite Muse and current face of Dollface's marketing, Katherine- but Kat to me, kept quietly reminding me- "Don't overthink it, doll."  Kat knows me really well since we basically started our Savannah careers together.  Kat & I go way back to before we had nice portfolios built by professional photogs and makeup stuidos to work from.  I used an SLR camera on auto, did her hair & makeup in my kitchen, and used shower curtains as backdrops on my front porch!  And even today, those images are still some of my favorites in my portfolio.  If you look up at the site's banner, that's a shower curtain in the back!  I live by the words of Tim Gunn, "MAKE IT WORK!"

It was very important to me for my artists to have their own creative shoots to feel that experience and to also build their portfolios.  It also gives all of us a chance for team building since we work side by side.  At the time, I thought the shoot was mainly about expressing our indiviual creativity.  But it was more than that.. Kat jokingly said, "We've come a long way from it being just us in your kitchen!"  And then it hit me... that yes, yes we have come a long way.  Thank you Kat for reminding me!

A wave of pride and happiness began to roll in when I looked around.  I'm in between 2 very passionate artists, Jordan & Sergio, who are focused on bringing their visions to life.  There is an incredible photographer, Kelli Boyd, who is capturing the looks & making them SHINE!  PLUS, we have an endless amount of makeup that would make most girls squeal. But the energy.. the energy was magical!

When I started Dollface, my goal was to work full time & be able to live.  I work a lot & I love it.  It's one foot in front of the other for me since it's hard work to grow a solid company.  Things look different when you are in the trenches, so it was pretty amazing for me to see the small but mighty company that I created in such stellar form!

Yes, I'm bragging a little.  But it's because I'm so proud.  It's much more than just me & we're doing something really great.  We have fun in our mini hats & vests, dancing to music while we paint! Jordan & Sergio are driven & excited!  You can teach someone how to apply makeup, but you can't teach someone how to be passionate.

We're going to do many more shoots to continue training and playing! You can keep up with all of our newest work, inspirations, & artist's boards on Pinterest. A HUGE thank you to the following:  Kelli Boyd Photography, Plan B ReDesigns for lending us your girly items. Thank you Kat for always being "my Dollface"!  Thank you to Sergio, Jordan, Josh, & Jenn for being amazing team members! And thank you to the fabulous models from Savannah Theater- Shannon, Gretchen, Michelle, & Lucinda!  I know this blog isn't our normal tips or product recommendations.  But I wanted to share a little behind the scenes of the heart of Dollface.  Thanks for letting me share!

Sincerely filled with love,
